Choose your Leeds JLD Committee for 2025
FELT OFFICER:
CURTIS BROADHEAD
I write with reference to the FELT Representative position currently available at the JLD. I am currently a Legal Counsel at a global SaaS tax and regulatory company, Sovos. I started my career in-house three years ago (and am two and a bit years PQE) and have loved every minute of it. Whilst it does have its challenges, including a small element of detachment from private practice learnings, I want to give back to the community and help other in-house counsel (including small trainee intake firms) with great visibility and representation – also within the JLD.

I believe I am a great fit for the role. Having worked with in private practice law firms for four years and in house for three, I have experienced both sides of the working life as a lawyer and genuinely believe I can make a difference in. Examples being:
-
Creating and leading events for great exposure and showcasing in house lawyers;
-
Let every voice be heard and collate regular feedback from the inhouse community;
-
Regularly encourage the participation within JLD events and wider networking events; and
-
Eagerness to help shape the next landscape of lawyers with new initiatives and ideas.
In terms of my personal skills, I believe:
-
I am a fun guy to work with;
-
Love a social event and meeting new people;
-
Enjoy hearing other people’s stories and experiences – I am a Chartered Legal Executive so qualified via other means of qualification;
-
Respectful of other people’s views.
Finally, a bit about me (boring!)
-
I am a keen runner and am a member of the Hyde Park Harriers Run club;
-
I also love dogs and run with my dogs. I have a wired haired vizsla and a working cocker spaniel;
-
I am getting married next year; and
-
I have a positive outlook and mindset – and help encourage others to put plans into action.
I hope to be selected for the FELT position as I want to help drive new challenges and initiatives. If there are any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
